MARIEKE PRINSLOO-ROWE
(°1977) is a South African female sculptor, who grew up outside Pretoria.
She has a BA in Fine Art from the University of Pretoria, majoring in sculpture and is currently completing her Master in Public Art at the University of the Witwatersrand, Johannesburg.
Prinsloo-Rowe received several awards in South Africa and travelled to Italy in 2018 to work on a Carrara marble carving project. Her artworks are represented in several public sites, private collections and galleries both in South Africa and countries abroad, such as the UK and Belgium.
She models mostly in wax and clay and casts her statues
in cement composites, resin composites and bronze. She focusses on public art. Marieke got inspired by Wall Street’s Fearless Girl and made an African version of the girl. The artist is best known for her beautiful bronze swimmer sculptures. She mainly explores the human figure.
